A telephone scam has been reported this week.  It involves leaving a recorded message, purportedly from HMRC, stating that the department is bringing a lawsuit against the individual and is going to sue them. The recipient is asked to call a number and press ‘1’ to speak to the officer dealing with the case.

HMRC recommends that individuals should not respond to the message.
